In his latest article for AIER, Barry Brownstein writes, “Helen Pluckrose and James Lindsay wrote of their e book Cynical Theories, the modern social justice motion “is a worldview that facilities social and cultural grievances and goals to make all the things right into a zero-sum political wrestle revolving round identification markers like race, intercourse, gender, sexuality, and lots of others.”
On this episode of Liberty Curious, I used to be joined by Barry Brownstein, professor emeritus of Economics and Management, to debate how our private grievances are a menace to liberty.
“In his 1976 lecture, “Socialism and Science,” Hayek argued that socialism requires a “authorities with limitless powers” to offer teams with grievances what they assume “they’re entitled to.”
Barry explains that our particular person mindset has a ripple impact that shapes the society round us. Once we construct our identities round our private grievances, we play into the palms of intolerant politicians and ideologies that promise to resolve all of our issues for us, at the price of our inside and outer liberty.
